Every once in a while you see a fight that showcases two fighters who are going for blood. This battle between Sangmanee against the extremely tough Thanonchai is a fight that you don’t want to miss. I have never seen Sangmanee look so determined to try and exact revenge for that cut he suffered in the second round of the fight.

Thoughts on the Fight

Thanonchai threw a lot of left low kicks on Sangmanee. While Sangmanee was blocking them, they were not clean blocks and would have definitely slowed him down towards the last few round of the fight.

In the first few rounds of the fight Sangmanee was on the losing end of a lot of the exchanges that were traded with Thanonchai. He was not doing a good job of blocking Thanonchai’s left kick and it landed plenty of times. After the 3rd round it was clear that Sangmanee was losing the fight and needed to do something drastic in order to change the inevitable outcome.

Sangmanee looked out of his game as he was trying to push forward following the third round of the fight. His style is better suited for sitting back and playing for points.

The old saying that styles make fights, is very true. Sangmanee performs better against skilled opponents who look to sit back and trade shots. An opponent like Thanonchai is a difficult matchup for Sangmanee because of his pressure.

Overall, I was very impressed with Thanonchai’s performance as he showed that he is one of the best fighters in the game. On the other hand, Sangmanee has suffered a string of losses and continues to look like he needs a change of scenery to get back to his winning ways. Considering he’s still a teenage boy, I wouldn’t bet against him making a strong comeback.
