Recent news coming out of Evolve MMA in Singapore is that Pornsanae Sitmonchai has officially joined their team of Muay Thai trainers.

BREAKING NEWS: Multiple-time Muay Thai World Champion and Muay Thai Legend Pornsanae Sitmonchai has officially joined Evolve MMA!” – Evolve MMA

For those of you who didn’t already know, Muay Thai fighters/trainers in Thailand make peanuts. This is the main reason why Pornsanae has continued to fight, even after a string of bad knockout losses.

Pornsanae evolveMost Thai fighters have a few weeks/months of savings before they are broke after fighting. In Thailand, it is common to see superstars fade into obscurity when they finish their careers in Bangkok. Fighters don’t’ learn financial skills when they are fighting. When they make money, they are expected to help those around them and support their families.

In the article The lasting Effects of Knockouts, I talked about Pornsanae’s dilemma of having to fight for the money, even though it was terrible for his long term health.

Given Pornsanae’s huge popularity around the world, he is a big marketing tool for a lot of gyms. While I presumed he would start his own gym in Thailand, working at evolve MMA is the next best thing.

Getting hired at Evolve MMA is like getting a job at Google or Facebook for Muay Thai fighters. They only hire world champions, so if you are an average fighter who doesn’t have any titles, you have no chance of getting the job. While Muay Thai trainers in Thailand often make around 10-15k Thai baht (300-450 USD) per month, evolve trainers make up to 10x that amount.

Evolve MMA is currently the home to the most ex Muay Thai champions in the world and is considered the best MMA camp in Asia.

Before getting hired by Evolve, Pornsanae had one last going away fight to defend his belt at Omnoi stadium in Bangkok. In typical Pornsanae fashion, he would leave his fans with one last highlight reel knockout before moving on to his new career at Evolve MMA.

We wish Pornsanae all the best in his new career as a trainer. He deserves every bit of success that comes his way.
